Kraft Super-Fli Build-Covering
After filling minor dings with filler and final sanding the aircraft with 400 grit paper, it was time to start the covering. I used
Ultracote white and true red. This was my first time using Ultracote and was pleased with the results. It has become my
new favorite iron-on film. Low heat, easy to reposition, and conforms to curves with little fuss.
Stripes and Lettering
Call sign letters and numbers were cut
from a blown up picture of the Fli, traced
onto see-temp material, then cut from
Ultracote. Fuselage striping was
eyeballed. laid out with masking tape--

Ultracote.
Wing, Stab, and Rudder
Covered
3/32 masking tape was taped to the
rudder and stabilizer to simulate
scale ribs. Ultracote was applied to
the surfaces over the tape and
adhered with the iron.
Left Side of Fuselage Covered
Turtle deck and vertical fin red trim
added. The Kraft logo was cut from
some black Monokote I had lying
around, and the “K”cut from
Ultracote.
Fuselage Striping
Left side of fuselage striping finished
up. Call letters and numbers taped
on fuselage to check positioning and
size.
Decals Added
Decals were made with an ink jet
printer with downloaded fonts off the
FILM SHEETS were used for printing
the decals. Decals must be clear
coated before placing in water,
otherwise they will disappear!
Instrument Panel
Instrument panel added with Aresti
diagram for aerobatics. Diagram
clips were made from folded metal
duct tape and then cut to shape.
Side View
Canopy will be replaced with another
better Vac-u form pull. There were
some ripples on the bottom edge I
didn’t like.
Top View
Cowl and wheel pants were brush
painted with Glidden gloss latex
paint. A piece of white Ultracote was
color matched by my local Home
Depot paint guy. Color match was
excellent! Cheap too, 12 bucks a
quart.
Another Top View
Faux ribbing is visible underneath
the Ultracote on elevator.
